Meet Scooby Scooby is a truly special soul who came to GAWS as a stray. At first, we feared he had been hit by a car, but after immediate medical testing, no injuries were found. Wanting answers, we turned to Geelong Animal Referral Services, where a CT scan and MRI finally gave us clarity: Scooby has Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL), a rare neurological condition that affects his cognitive function. While Scooby's time with us may be shorter than we wish, he still deserves every moment to be filled with love, comfort, and happiness. Scooby is looking for a very special home - one that can offer a calm, predictable environment where he can thrive. He has minimal physical needs; gentle pottering around the garden is all the exercise he wants. Scooby is fully housetrained and enjoys spending most of his day snoozing indoors. His ideal home would have no other dogs. Although he is dog-friendly, the presence of other dogs can be too overwhelming for him given his condition. Scooby has shown he adores calm, respectful older children, making him a sweet companion for the right family. His new family must be committed to providing him with regular veterinary check-ups to monitor his health. And when the time comes, they will need the strength to make the compassionate decision to let him go peacefully when his disease progresses beyond what his quality of life allows. Scooby may have special needs, but his capacity for love is endless. Could you be the one to give him the beautiful life he deserves?
