Meet Duke - a distinguished gentleman ready for a quiet, loving retirement. Duke is a senior Shepherd mix who found himself at GAWS after the passing of his beloved owner. Now, he's searching for a calm and caring home to spend his golden years, surrounded by love and comfort. This sweet old soul enjoys the simple things in life - peaceful strolls, gentle affection, and the quiet company of his humans. While he's polite around other dogs, Duke really values one-on-one time and would be happiest as the only dog in the home. He's housetrained, walks beautifully on lead, and has a gentle, steady nature that makes him a lovely companion. As he hasn't had much experience with children, a home with adults or older kids (12+) who can respect his pace and space would be ideal. Duke has been with one of amazing foster carers splitting his time between city life and laid back seaside living. He has shown he really struggles with the hustle and bustle of the city, but has assimilated beautifully to his seaside retreat. This needs to be considered for his potential applicants. Duke hasn't been tested with cats, so a feline-free home may be the safest fit for now.
