Meet Jessica! Jessica is one of those incredible dogs who has worked so hard to get where she is today. Her eagerness to learn and willingness to please are a true testament to her determination to be the best version of herself. Jessica came to GAWS when her previous owner didn't have the tools to manage her fear reactivity. Since then, she's undergone a structured behaviour modification plan - and her progress has been nothing short of amazing. While she's now ready to find her forever home, her new family will need to continue this work and help guide her journey forward. When Jessica first arrived, she would bark in fear at people and unfamiliar objects. Through patient, positive training, she's now built strong bonds with many of our staff and volunteers. She can still be unsure around some men, but with a confident and understanding handler, she quickly relaxes and refocuses. Jessica is highly food-motivated and loves to please, which makes training both fun and rewarding for her. She previously lived with another dog, though finding new canine friends hasn't always been easy. While she's made a few doggy pals here at the shelter, we feel Jessica will thrive best as the only dog in her home while she continues her personal growth. She has no history with cats or children. Jessica is housetrained and walks beautifully on a loose lead when there are no distractions. With a committed, patient owner - ideally someone with dog experience or a passion for training - she will continue to blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be. Jessica will be available as a staff-supported foster-to-adopt dog to ensure she and her new family are fully supported throughout her transition.
