Frazer came into our care after taking it upon himself to protect the toddler in his previous home. In Frazer's eyes, this included monitoring and managing the other dogs in the household. True to his breed, he was simply looking for a job to channel his strong guardian instincts, but unfortunately chose one that wasn't appropriate for a domestic environment. Frazer is house trained and shows many classic Maremma traits, including being observant, loyal, and devoted to his people. On the flip side, he is one of the most affectionate and people-focused dogs of this breed that we have met, forming strong and loving bonds with those he trusts. He is looking for a breed-experienced (or similar guardian breed) home that understands his instincts and can provide the structure, mental stimulation, and age-appropriate exercise he needs to thrive. Frazer is currently on a joint-specific diet and receives 4CYTE to support his mobility as he moves into his senior years. Due to his history, Frazer is not suited to a home with children. Although he has been gentle, we want to ensure he is not placed in a situation where he feels the need to take on a protective role again. Frazer may be rehomed alongside his companion Gypsy(68279) or as the only dog. He has no known history with cats. For the right home, Frazer will be a loyal, affectionate, and deeply devoted companion.
