Tulip is a medium sized young terrier mix, roughly at knee height and weighing 19kgs. Tulip is a sweet and affectionate lady who is looking for a patient and understanding home to help her continue building confidence. She was initially shy and unsure when she arrived, but once she feels safe, Tulip forms strong bonds and loves being close to her people. She enjoys attention and will happily soak up all the pats and affection on offer. Tulip has shown that she can be quite tolerant around other dogs, however she can become protective of the person she has bonded with. For this reason, she would be best suited as the only dog in the home so she can continue learning appropriate boundaries and build confidence without pressure. She may need further guidance around small dogs. She currently has minimal lead skills and can be flighty in new environments, so she will need ongoing training, consistent walks, and gentle exposure to new experiences to help her feel safe and secure. Tulip will also benefit from structure, daily exercise, enrichment, and continued basic training. Tulip may require some support adjusting to indoor and outdoor living, as her history is unknown. Due to her sensitive nature, she would be best suited to a home with children over 10 years of age. With patience and guidance, Tulip will make a loyal and loving companion.
